Meet Patrick & Isabel! The Lucky Locals!
Hi, I’m Patrick… and I’m Isabel. We’re the Drake's!!
We are the "Lucky Locals" who now own and operate Canyon Bikes. We have lived in the Roaring Fork Valley and worked next door at Blue Sky Adventures for many years. It finally made sense to combine the operations and offer guests a package of biking and rafting! Trust us......Pedals & Paddles couldn't be a better vacation activity!
Born in Glenwood Springs, Patrick has called this mountain town home since 1982. He has always loved the outdoor opportunities here and has been active in his pursuits. Patrick first started guiding for Blue Sky Adventures in 2002 as a college sophomore and has grown with the company since. As a recreation and tourism major at Colorado State University, Patrick transitioned from raft guide to co-owner of Blue Sky in no time! Patrick met and married Isabel right here in the valley. They became new parents in 2009 and he and his wife, Isabel, are now raising their family here too.
CANYON BIKES HISTORY
Joe and Judy O’Donnell founded Canyon Bikes in 1993. It began with a small fleet of cycling equipment plus local and tourist pleas for more family fun. The venture quickly grew to have the largest selection of rental bikes and kids trailers, plus a popular shuttle service to the trails east end (Dotsero) where riders could enjoy the entire 16 mile downhill “almost” all the way!
Then ....Jeff and Vicki Neer came to Glenwood Springs to ride this famous Glenwood Recreation Trail in May of 2000, with their friends the O’Donnell’s. What a ride!! Literally! Not only did they enjoying biking the Glenwood Canyon.... they went home with a perfect family adventure planned. They bought the business that summer!
Jump forward 12 years and you have the Spring of 2012, where we come in. As mentioned above, we have always thought it made sense to run these two businesses together and we made it final this Spring. We are excited for our new endeavor!
